Using recyclable glue on beer manufacturing, contributing to a sustainable ecology!

In the hot summer, having a glass of cold beer is one of life's great pleasures.

Do you know that the plastic wrap of beer cans turns out to be a killer of marine life?

Compared with other beverages, the packaging of beer is more environmental friendly. Only one plastic ring can put several cans of beer together for customers to take. However, the plastic film of beer packaging cannot be recycled and is light and thin. If it is rushed into the sea, it could become the hidden murderous intent in the sea, causing sea turtles, dolphins, and seabirds to be unable to eat, starving to death because their stomachs are stuffed with plastic.

How important is the reduction of plastic packaging!

As a packaging material, plastic has the advantages of lightness, thinness and low cost. Many commodity packagings contain plastic components. However, plastic cannot be completely decomposed in a short period of time, and it is easy to pollute the land, ocean, and even the air during the decomposition process. According to United Nations statistics, about 8 million tons of plastic waste enters the ocean every year, and these wastes eventually turn into plastic particles, which enter the human body through the food chain can endanger health. In recent years, consumers have finally realized that plastic reduction not only protects the earth's ecology, but also protects the safety of food, air and drinking water. In daily consumption, the concept of plastic reduction is gradually being taken into consideration in purchasing.

The plastic-reduction beer packaging

A well-know beer brand released a new type of packaging in 2018, which uses recyclable glue to fasten beer cans together, and small pieces of plastic handles to replace the traditional shrink film packaging of beer, claiming to be able to reduce plastic by 76%. The concept is to use the joints between the beer cans to apply hot melt adhesive between the cans to fix them, and only add a plastic handle outside the six-can package to achieve the purpose of reducing plastic. It is currently available in the UK and Norway markets. The design of plastic-reduction packaging can save the equivalent of 60 million plastic bags a year, and has the opportunity to reduce plastic by 1,200 tons per year.

Recyclable adhesive replaces plastic

Adhesives cannot damage the printing on the can, cannot affect the quality of beer, and must be able to withstand extreme refrigerated temperatures between storage, transportation, consumer end, and withstand the temperature changes of high sunlight exposure during shipping. Consumers can easily separate the two beer cans, and the residual glue on the beer cans will not stick.

Finally, the glue residue on the beer can can be easily removed from the aluminum can for recycling purposes, and the glue can be recycled along with the beer aluminum can.

Packaging to reduce plastic

At present, only the famous beer brand uses such plastic-reduced packaging. It was developed by a century-old German company. In addition to beer cans, this plastic reduction packaging technology can also be applied to the packaging of PET mineral water rooms. In order to enable the entire industry to achieve the goal of plastic reduction, it will share the new technology with the industry.

In this era of rising environmental awareness, plastic reduction is a trend in the food industry. The green transformation and positioning of major bottled water plants and breweries will be able to attract more consumers. Therefore, food manufacturers must think about how to use more environmental friendly products way of producing goods.

In the application of plastic reduction in packaging, Tex Year has a record of cooperation with customers in recyclable glue. Welcome to inquire and make a contribution to the sustainable ecology together!
